A.            Introduction
Introduction (10 minutes)

·      Tell your students that today they will learn about the respiratory system




·      Display a poster and devide it into two columns, with the first column labeled with know, and the second column labeled with learned.
·      Ask your students what they know about the respiratory system
·      Assalamualaikum Wr,Wb.
·      Good morning students
·      How are you today?
·      Okey students, today we will be learning about respiratory system.
·      Before start our lesson, I want to ask you. Do you breathe? Okay, now follow me.  Put your hand on your chest, breathe trough your nose. Take a deep breathe and then remove it.
·      Now, look at me. I have a picture of the respiratory system.

·      When we breathe, what organs are we use?  What do you know about the respiratory system?









B.            Explicit Intruction

·      Pass out the respiratory system worksheet to your students





·           Go over the worksheet with your students and explain the function of each part
·           Ask your students to label the part as you go over it.

·           Okay students, there I have some worksheet about the respiratory system. So, I will devide you into four groups. I will give this worksheet to each group.
·           Please join with  your group.
·           Now,  see your worksheet. I hope you label the part as I go over it. Write the definition of each word on notebook paper.
·           Okay, first Iwant to explain about sinus cavity. Sinus cavity is the area around the nose and eyes that cleans the air people breathe in.
·           Then, in the respiratory system there is the pharynx and larynx. Pharynx is behind the nose and mouth and that the larynx is in the neck and contains the vocal cords.
·           Then, there is the trachea. Trachea connects the pharynx and larynx to the lungs and is responsible for the passage of air, while the bronchi are small tubes that bring air to and from the lungs.
·           Do you know lungs? Now, put your hand on the chest. In the chest there is a lung. The lung is the main part of the respiratory system and puts oxygen into the bloodstream.
·           Except lung, in the respiratory system have diaphragm. Diaphragm is a muscle that moves up and down to expand the lung.








C.            Guided Practice / Interactive Modeling

·      Ask your students to complete the your respiratory system worksheet with a partner
·      Go over the worksheet as a class
·      Now, complete your worksheet in accordance with what I explain earlier. I give time five minutes.
·      Finish, please collect your worksheet.

D.           Independent Working Time

·      Give each students seven index cards
·      Ask your students to write the name of the part on the front of the card
·      Have them draw the picture of the part on the front of the card as well
·      Ask your students to write the description and function of the part on the back of the card.
·      I have seven cards for one group. This card is empty. Before it, I will close this picture.
·      All groups have got seven cards?
·      I want you to write down the name of the respiratory part.
·      Already?
·      Then, I want you to draw the part you wrote down.
·      Already?
·      Then, write the function of the part you wrote on the back of the card.
·      Are you finish? Collect it.

E.     Extend Differentiation

·      Enrichment : ask your students to complete the are your lungs healthy worksheet. After that, have them research any two different types of lungs from the worksheet. Ask them to write a compare and contrast paragraph on the two different types of lungs.
·      Support : ask your students to create two columns on a piece of paper. Have them label the first one know and the second one learn. Ask them to fill out the know column for each part of the respiratory system. Go over the chart and explain the missing parts again. Ask your students to fill out the learn column after you finish explaining the parts again.
·      I have a worksheet, there are two different lung pictures. I want you to see the different between the two lung.
·      Then, I want you to create a column, write the different in the column.


F.            Review
Assessment (15 minutes)

·      Ask your students to complete the your body : your lungs worksheet.
·      Next, we will go the assessment session. You must complete my lung worksheet.
·      Who want to fill the blanks and explain to the front of class.
·      Hands up, please!

Review and Closing (10 minutes)

·      Ask your students what they learned about the respiratory system , and write it in the second column on the poster board from the introduction.
·      Okay, we are the end of the lesson. We will review about our lesson today. Do you understand about the respiratory system?
·      We can conclude that in the respiratory system there is the sinus cavity, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, lung, and diaphragm.
·      Any question so far?
·      Okay, if there is no question, here is our lesson today.
